Removing Taxes and Fees from Bookings

You may have customers that are tax-exempt or need the taxes and fees taken off a purchase. Removing taxes and fees can only be done on back-office purchases, or after a purchase is made. Read on below to find out how to remove taxes and fees from a customer's purchase in a snap.

Removing taxes & fees during back office purchase

  1. During back-office checkout, navigate to the Payment Summary.
  2. Click the Modify button. A trash can icon will appear next to all taxes or fees that can be modified.
  3. To remove a tax or fee before processing this booking, click the trash can. A gray line will strike out the tax or fee line item and it will be removed from the booking total.

    NOTE: If you have a Partner/Booking fee from Xola, you will not be able to remove this fee. Only taxes & Fees, that you created in Settings will be able to be removed from a booking. 

    Oops! I need to reinstate a tax or fee, simply click the gray arrow on the line item to reverse the removal.

  4. Proceed with the booking as normal and click Confirm.

Removing taxes & fees after a reservation is made

  1. After a reservation is made, go to the Purchases Tab and find the booking you want to modify. 
  2. Under the Payment Summary, you will hit Modify.Screen_Shot_2022-11-08_at_2.57.35_PM.png 
  3. Once you hit Modify, a pop-up will appear with a breakdown of all taxes & fees associated with that purchase.  Screen_Shot_2022-11-08_at_2.55.42_PM.png                                            
  4. To remove a tax or fee from this purchase, click the trash can icon. A gray line will strike out the tax or fee line item and it will be removed from the purchase total.
  5. Click Confirm and your modifications will be saved. 

    NOTE: If you have a Partner/Booking fee from Xola, you will not be able to remove this fee. Only taxes & Fees, that you created in Settings will be able to be removed from the purchase.

  6. If a customer has already paid, then a green Return Excess Payment box will appear to have you return the tax or fee removed back to the original payment method. Click Return Excess Payment and you will be walked through the Refund Payment workflow.
